Education is for life…!Not merely for a living….

Living is a common feature for all creatures on earth. A small herb or shrub to a great elephant all lives. But  L I F E is something more than that. Man is called the “Crown of creation”, meaning the most developed creation of God. How is man superior to all other beings in creation?
Man is the only being on earth who has the power to think and reason at an intellectual and philosophical level. All other  beings live mainly by instinct. The number of human beings who occupy this planet is tiny when compared to the population of other beings. But man has succeeded in ruling every other creature in the world. When we think how we got all these virtues we would ultimately get the answer as “Education”. Generally all human beings in this world needs education to safeguard themselves and lead a happy life. Whatever profession it may be, one need education to shine in that field. An educated person would always do the best in whatever field he enters.
Education is the discipline for the adventure of life, the acquisition of the art of the utilization of knowledge. It makes a man civilized and  make out  a decent living. But is this all the purpose of education???
When asked for the aim in life, almost all of us would reply as “To get higher education , get a good job, earn a lot of money, to get married, have children, own a house , get a car, make my children educated. And one fine day get retired from the job and live comfortably on the pension.”
If it is only earn, eat , have children and die, what’s the real worth of human life??? And what is the purpose of your education???? Friends our life doesn’t end with education and living. If we are all born only for that what is the difference between an animal and a human life??? Are  not the animals doing that  without an expensive education? Are not the birds doing that without schooling? Are not the fish doing the same without high salaries?
Life and Death  are common to all human beings. Of course we should earn and live well. But we should also have high ideals. It is fine to have money and position but it is worthwhile only if used in the service of others.
The role of education does not ends wit living. Education is not only the bookish knowledge that we acquire in schools and colleges. But a real knowledge of men, society and a worldly knowledge.  The purpose of education is to make man pure, to love and to serve more and more. Move closer  to God and find a life with happiness forever. Again happiness does not alone lies in the material comforts that we accumulate. The happy man is the one who has free affections and wide interests; who secures his happiness through these affection to many others. The education we acquire should help others and ourselves.
Friends we are grownups. Enough to think for ourselves. What ever career we take up in our life, let it be for our life and not merely for a living. This precious human life is god’s gift to us. Did we ask to be born as human beings? We should always remember that we have gained this great gift of the human body and mind to do something special. Of course one should have family ,have to eat , sleep , earn and enjoy the material comforts. But one’s entire life should not be spent merely in these pursuits. We should think more and more of the whole world as our family !!!

The Real Enemy is the Enemy within Us

“Every man is the architect of his own future” quotes Sallust and hence every man has the capacity to design himself.  A man’s life is just like cooking a dish.  If the ingredients are mixed in a correct proportion they give a real taste.   But on the other hand if they exceed the limit they do not serve the purpose. Similarly the emotions and reactions of man mixed in a right proportion make a good combination.
Man has three great enemies.  They are lust, anger and greed.  These lead to the destruction of man’s spiritual nature.  Animals have lust, but it is limited by natures call.  Animals have greed.  They have great urge to eat out of hunger.  As soon as their hunger is satisfied, they are not concerned with accumulation like men.  Animals have anger.  But it is limited in its scope.  That angry feeling is roused only when they are hungry.  But in man, it is all-consuming and vindictive.  Man indulges in these lower urges without any restrictions.  And so paves way for his ruin.  Man has the capacity to control, regulate and ultimately overcome these passions.
Anger is momentary madness, so control your passion or it will control you.  An angry man opens his mouth and shuts his eyes.  An Angry person is tempted to commit mistakes easily and at a bigger level it leads to great disasters like war.  If you find yourself using anger as a general pattern of behavior, remember that anger will generally leave you feeling foolish and sorry in the end.  Just as a spark of fire destroys a whole forest a man’s anger destroys his friends, relations, and surroundings. The world of today has achieved much, but for all its declared love for humanity, it has based itself far more on hatred and violence than on the virtues that make man human.  War is the negation of truth and humanity war may be unavoidable sometimes but its progeny are terrible to contemplate.  Not mere killing, for man must die, but the deliberate and persistent propagation of hatred and falsehood which gradually become the normal habit of the people.  Hence anger of a man puts the world into bier.   Hence man should control his anger or it may lead to vast destructions.
Suppose you have a quick temper, when something ignites it, hold a picture in your mind of yourself, calmly extinguishing it. If you can’t extinguish it, you may at least delay it, which is often the best cure for anger.
Why not take this as a Resolution for this New Year. Lets control our anger and make a peaceful world. Lets make it a better place to live in for you and for me and for rest of the creations.

Sweet Memories . . .!

A cool breeze blew over my face when I opened the window glass of my bus. It was a rainy day. It has just stopped raining then. It was so chill outside. The route through which my bus comes to office would have scenery on both the sides of the road, garnished by the hands of Mother Nature. The road was so clear washed by rains. The lush green grass appeared brisk and bright. The huge mountains stood high touching the sky. The clouds were black and dark. The climate was so romantic and poetic that even a layman would become Wordsworth. Amidst the hustle and bustle of these concrete jungles, the one hour early morning journey was really a refreshing one. I plugged my earphone to my mobile and started listening to a song. It was a female solo melody number describing Nature. As I listened to it, I just remembered the day before the previous day.
That day when I and my friend were having coffee, the same song was played in the cafeteria. “Hey its my favorite song!!! I love that!!!” I said to my friend. She immediately said     “Hey it’s my favorite one too :-) “. We just had our coffee with our favorite song and went back to our seats. It was quite a busy day. But some how I managed to board the last bus for the day. It was 10.30 when I reached home that night.
As soon as I reached home, I got a call from my friend. As I pressed the answer button I could hear a song. It was the same song which we heard that morning in the cafeteria. For complete 5 minutes till the song ended there was no speech on either side. Then my friend asked “How was that? Did you enjoy that? “ . I was really moved. Though I was so tired that time, I felt as I was so energetic. “Yes dear :-)Of course :-)“I replied. “ Wanna hear it once more? “She asked. “ Hey it’s enough yar. It’s already getting late. Go to bed.” I said.”No” she said and replayed the song. Actually she played me that song from YouTube. It was in a different file format that she didn’t know how to download that. But she said me “I’ll bring this song to you tomorrow for sure.”  The call lasted for another 5 minutes after which I went to bed.
When I went to bed I just thought of her. Such a sweet fellow she is. I just said her that I love that song. But she has taken so much of pains to get that for me. It just shows how much she likes me and cares for me. It may sound something ordinary for many. But for me it was really such a wonderful thing that I will not forget for life time. When ever I hear that song I’ll only remember her. The true love and affection she had for me and Her pure Friendship for me which did not expect anything in turn. It takes half of our life to find a true friend and half of it to keep them. But I’m lucky to have spent less than half my life finding her and wish to spend the rest with her.
The next day when she came to office the first thing she did was to transfer the song to my mobile. She some how managed to download the song for me. I really saw a complete satisfaction in her face when she did that. And it was that song I heard in the bus, that rainy morning. That song really added beauty to the climate :-) It was a wonderful feel. Something special indeed.  I really felt like being in heaven..!

Cute Dependencies

“Be on your Own and Feel the Pride of being Independent! “ advertises our Insurance  companies. “ Do your  home work by your own” says a teacher to her students. Being Independent is something what we all wish for. Many of us think that being Independent is the best thing. But being Dependent is equally beautiful.
Would like to know how…. :-) Read on…. :-)

At every point of time in our life we are dependent on some one.
Childhood : Being a Child we are dependent on our Parents to take care of us. Our Parents bring us from the scratch. They are the ones who attend to us, even when we ourselves weren’t able to acknowledge what our needs are.
When grown a little we are dependent on our Siblings for company. They are the ones with whom we fight, share and enjoy.
Adolescence: In the next stage of our life we are dependent on our friends. They mean a lot to us. A simple joke or a happy moment with a coke we need them by our side.
Complete Stage: Next  one is our Better half in our life. That person is the one whom we rely upon completely. Each and every moment of our life we wish to be with them. We are totally dependent on them.
So being dependent is something which cannot be avoided in our life.
 Just imagine these moments ….
Your Sister decorating both of your hands with Mehandi…
And after your hands are mehandied your Mother feeding you ….
You waiting in your bus stop for your Father to pick up you to home…
Your Brother taking you for shopping on a Saturday evening….
You waiting for your Friend’s suggestion to decide on something….
You lying on your Lover’s Shoulder sharing some thoughts…
Aren’t these moments Beautiful? ? ?
Dependencies are cuter even than being Independent. :-):-)
You know to be on your own when you are Independent. But you learn to admire the cute little things of a relationship when being dependent. :-)
Have a think over it. You will feel that being Dependent is also pleasure. :-D

The Unused Opportunity…!!!

The Twinkie winky eyes of the new born were sparkling. She was waving her teeny weeny limbs so happily. As Rahul held her she touched his face. That was one of those abstract moments when Rahul felt extremely  happy and had no words to express. He left her back near her mother. Deepthi saw her baby with a feeling of pride and completeness in her face. It’s really a great feeling to be a Mother.

“Ok then … Take care … Am leaving now … Bye!” said Rahul and left.

Rahul and Deepthi were school mates; Classmates.  Moreover neighbours. Rahul was a charming guy, bright student, pleasing by nature. And Deepthi was a soft girl with a well packed character. At the beginning they were just “Hi..Bye” friends. As they grew up they became very good friends. They played together, studied together, went to and came back from school together. They spent all times together. As every guy in the adolescent age, influenced by other friends and his own infatuations, Rahul developed a crush over her. But then, it was just a crush.

They studied together till 8th standard after which Deepthi’s father got transferred to some other city and they parted. Rahul felt lonely for few days. But then he was back to normalcy. He studied well and came out of school with flying colours. He got a meritorious seat in a prestigious Engineering college, which he did pretty well as always. Even before completing his graduation he got placed in a leading firm. His life went as clear as water with lots of enjoyment.

One fine day when he returned home from office a surprise awaited him. He saw a girl, a familiar face talking to his mother. And god that was Deepthi at his home!  His heart was really jumping in joy. He saw her after 8 long years. Not much she has changed, except that she has grew up a little taller than before but not much. Her two plaits had changed to single one as her frocks had changed to salwars.

“Hey Deepthi !!! Is that you?? Can’t believe my eyes..How are you??? You have not changed much … Have you come back here again?? What are you doing now??? ..!!!!” Rahul asked them all at once.  That was a mixture of questions and answered by himself.

“Hi!!! Allow me to talk yar. Am doing great!!  Daddy got retired from his job. So we decided to come back and settle in our native. And Am working for a leading IT firm. Does that answer’s all your rapid fire questions??? “ Said Deepthi with a cute smile in her face. Rahul gave back a wide grin.

They spoke together. Shared all their memories. Enquired each other about old friends whom they lost track with. They spoke almost about every important thing that happened to them in those 8 years. Time was rolling at its fastest. What could be more exciting than meeting a childhood pal after years? That day when Rahul went to bed he had a feeling of travelling to the past on a time machine. It would be wonderful if life have a rewind option as in a video camera.

They both became more good friends than in the past. Good friends in school days meant sharing a chocolate, helping out in doing previous day’s home work, having same colour school bag, playing and having lunch together. But now as grownups they had lots to share with. They discussed about almost everything under the sun. Both of them were so caring and affectionate on each other. They stood by when either of them had a problem and were each other’s let out whenever depressed. A good friend is the one who walks in when whole of the world walks out; Bestest of all relations on earth. A simple joke or a happy moment with a coke they were together. They never knew loneliness.

One summer evening when Rahul was standing at his gate sipping coffee, he saw Deepthi coming. She appeared a bit brighter than usual. His face brightened up and he greeted her with a smile. She threw him back a familiar smile. But that day there was something special about it. As she stepped into his home she started smiling more than before.

“Hey anything special??? Guess you are so happy …!!!??”

She smiled back and said “ Yes Rahul … Guess what??? “. Still smiling.

“ Your MBA results came??? U cleared with distinction??? Or got any promotions in office??? “ asked Rahul, a series of questions like always.

“ No yar … Something different … “, she smiled again.

Rahul stood puzzled thinking of almost all possible reasons for Deepthi’s smile.

“From now on there is going to be someone in my life with whom my life is going to be complete. Yes Rahul, My parents have found a better half for me. Next week probably they would arrange for an engagement. Just now daddy told me. And it’s you to whom I came first to say this. I know you’ll feel more happier than me.” Said Deepthi shingly with in a mellifluous voice and her own  silver smile.

That came as a thunderbolt to Rahul. He was left in a state of mixed emotions. Actually he was supposed to be doubly happy as Deepthi said to celebrate his best friend getting married. But something paused him. That moment he understood that it was not just friendship. His heart wanted to take that to the next level. But he didn’t show any of his emotions out. For the first time he smiled falsely to Deepthi. He congratulated her. Deepthi then started telling about her future ally. Rahul remained a silent listener to everything.

For the next couple of days Rahul was so disturbed. He knew that it was unfair to think his best friend as his life partner. It would be like shattering all Deepthi’s years of trust in a single stroke. He decided to grave all his thoughts forever.

As planned Deepthi got engaged the next week. Deepthi introduced Rahul with a pride to her would be as her closest friend. In the next six months she got married. Rahul sensed a kinda loneliness for some days. He then dragged him out of that solitude. He was back to his usual life.

It may seem that he lost an opportunity to get a good friend as his life partner. But there was chance of him losing a very good friend of his for the cause of his love. May be she would have accepted his love. As a partner she would have been more caring and affectionate than now. But if not he would have not gained anything, rather lost a precious friend of him. It’s true that we don’t know what we are really missing until it arrives. And today he would have been living without a charming, caring, affectionate, and precious and really a good friend like Deepthi. He understood that a friend being a friend would be much better than a friend being a life partner. Why to combine all beautiful relations together and compress life when they are available in plenty. What would have been his life without Deepthi as a friend? It would have been like a pen nib with a bend.

And Today when he lifted Deepthi’s baby he understood that his decision to Silence his thoughts was the bestest of all the decisions he took in his life. And that was not a Love failure, But An Unused Opportunity.

The WAIT……

He was getting ready for his school friend’s wedding reception. It is after a long time they are going to get together. As he started he recollected all those lovely moments of his school days. Really they were heavenly days. No work; No tension; No money; No problem; No worries. All they knew were just fun; joy; happiness and smiles. He reached the reception hall. There was already a big gang awaiting him. They laughed; Teased each other recalling their pranks; Discussed about their career; And had lots and lots of fun. It was really a refreshing meet amidst the hustle and bustle of this hectic life.
The function was drawing to an end. Every one started to move. Suddenly a familiar Eyes caught his attention. It was Her. He saw her for the first time in the last six years. She looked at him with a gentle smile. She is such a warm person to gel with. Last time they met was their school farewell day, when she said him “I Love You”. It appeared immature to him though she was a matured girl who takes right decisions at right time. He just moved  without uttering a single word. He was a tall, dark guy with nerd kinda look. So its not just external attraction that made her to like him. Somethig beyond that. Its only that which holds her till now.Now even after six years she remained the same. She had not changed much. She approached towards him. He stood still with a smile. “ Hi” said him and started the conversation. They spoke as if nothing happened between them. Finally before leaving he asked, “Do you still think of the past….?”. She replied with a smile, “ I never forgot; never will I”. He remained silent. He didn’t know what to reply. It doesn’t mean that he didn’t understand her. He knew how much she loves him. But he has a lot of family commitments which prevents him from accepting her love. He knew that he is gonna miss a precious one. But he was helpless. She knew his position. Who else could understand him better than her. . . ! ! !
“ I have waited for  six years. And I will wait for you. If I get you then I will be the most luckiest girl in the world. And if not am unlucky obviously. . . But my love for you will never change. . . No one else in this world can love you as I do…Take care..    “ she said and left the place.
Wait
How can you tell the sun not to shine
When cloud exists
How can you tell the leaves not to fall
When wind exists
How can you tell her not to love him
When he exists
Many of us have fallen in love in our lives.
Each one has some story to tell.
But the most beautiful are the ones which are never told,
And maybe never reciprocated………..
But that love lingers forever……………
“The biggest beauty of one sided love is that you have got the
privilege of loving someone more than yourself ….. Very True…  ”

Cho Chweet…..!!!!

It was last Saturday evening. As usual the power was cut. It was so stuffy inside my home that I came out with my coffee mug and stood near my garden fence. It was a perfect evening picture. The breeze was sooooo cool and the evening sunlight was gorgeous. As I stood sipping my coffee the entrance door opposite to my home opened. Harshath’s mother came out. Following her came Harshath and Sruthi.
“Harshath leave Sruthi in her home safely and come back. Ok “, said Harshath’s mother. He nodded his head and held Sruthi’s hand with his. They both saw each other smiled and started walking.
Now friends a small information. Harshath is studying LKG and Sruthi hasn’t joined school. Wink
As they started walking there came a cute beep sound “kien kien…” from their musical shoes that they wore. Sruthi’s home was just 20 yards away from Harshath’s. But for them it’s a pretty good distance to walk. They were discussing some topic as they were walking. Sruthi told him something about her teddy that she was holding in her hands. He said her something showing his shoes. Seemed to be more interesting.I didn't get them. Only they knew what it was. But one thing was clear. They had a lots and lots to share. They were really in a different world for themselves.
Harshath was pointing something on the middle of the road with his cute little figure. They both sat in the road with their knees bent and hands on their cheeks. The two tiny tots were looking at a little worm that was moving . Sruthi looked around her for something. Then she found a small stick. They both lifted the worm in that and left it in a corner. They both smiled at each other and started walking again.
Suddenly Harshath shouted “Hey be careful!!!”. Only then I realized. A two wheeler came from the other side. Now as they passed they looked back with a smile. They were sooooo happy for saving that small worm from having dead. Those sweet smiles in silence spoke 1000 languages.
Finally they reached Sruthi’s home. Harshath waved his cute little hand saying “Bye”. She went inside her home saying “Bye!”. Harshath turned walking towards his home.
It was really like a journey . They walked only for a short distance. But left a life long impression.
The smile that they exchanged; The comfort that Sruthi felt when Harshath held her hands; The Innocence in their Smile; The flawless friendship they had; The excitement they got when they saw that little worm; The  innovativeness Sruthi had to find a stick to lift the worm; The kindness they had to save the worm; The care Harshath had on Sruthi to shout and signal her on seeing the two wheeler;  The satisfaction that they felt after saving the worm;  The security that Harshath gave Sruthi; The warmth in their smile; The Togetherness that they had; The pleasure that they gave me….
Those were abstract ones that can never be expressed through words. It must be felt by heart. They really gave meaning for almost all beautiful words. They were really a Virtual Dictionary.

As Harshath walked towards his home I had my coffee. It tasted something special :-)
Hope everyone of you would have had a Marvelous weekend with a Stunning Saturday. BUT I’m damm sure that none of you would have had such a Fantabulous one as mine. Really Cho Chweet …..Isn’t  it ?
